Generic Xeloda (Capecitabine)

Dosage

Xeloda is used for therapy of metastatic colon/rectal cancer and metastatic breast cancer.
It is taken twice a day. The pill should be taken after meal with a glass of water. If you miss a dose take the pill as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for the next one. In case of overdose, contact emergency service or your medical advisor. Do not make any changes regarding the dosage or your treatment schedule without your Doctor?s advice.
You will be tested often to monitor your health condition.

Precautions

Before starting Xeloda therapy, inform your Doctor if you are allergic to any drug and show him your medical history. Also let your healthcare provider know about all over-the-counters, vitamins and herbs you use.
Xeloda can get into body fluids so people who contact with them should use rubber gloves. Wash your hands thoroughly before and after removing the gloves. Wash contaminated cloths and linens apart from the rest. A pregnant woman should not handle body fluids.
Both male and female should not conceive a child/get pregnant during the whole period of treatment. Use contraceptives while taking the medicine. Do not take the drug if you breastfeeding.
Reduce the use of alcohol and avoid direct sunlight. To prevent infections stay away from people with flue, be careful with sharps and try not to be involved into contact sports. Do not get any kind of vaccinations without your medical advisor?s consent.
You need an immediate medical help if you have any of the following symptoms: temperature over 100.4? F (38? C), chills.
The side effects listed below require medical advice, but are not an emergency: nausea; vomiting; diarrhea; bleeding/ bruising; black/ tarry stool or bloody stool/ urine; extreme weariness; yellowish skin/eyes; constipation; mouth sores; tingling or burning, redness, swelling of the palms or soles; confusion, loss of balance, drowsiness.
Inform your Doctor if you experience any unusual symptoms.
